SpID Trial

The Parish Council have arranged with the Lancaster City Council Speed Management team for the free trial of a speed indicating device, which will be fitted in Whittington within the next few days.

This is a temporary arrangement. The device will target one direction for a week and will then target the other direction. The exact mounting location will be determined when the device is installed.

Neighbourhood Plan Meeting

Lancaster City Council are tasked with providing a neighbourhood plan for villages in the Lune Valley. At the moment this is in the consultation stage and Whittington Parish Council have agreed that Arkholme, Whittington, and Gressingham would be in a stronger position if they worked together, rather than as individual communities.

There is a meeting in Arkholme Village Hall on Thursday 20th July at 8:00 pm, which is open to anyone who may be interested in what happens to our villages in the future.

Whittington Sewing Group

Whittington Sewing Group will start again on Tuesday 12th September at 2 pm in Whittington Village Hall. Please contact Sue Redmond on 015242 71677 for more information.

Hutton Roof Road Closure

Lancashire County Council has given notice of a road closure over the length of Hutton Roof Road. The closure will take place between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 from 3rd July 2017 to 21st July 2017. The closure is to allow carriageway resurfacing work to be carried out.

The map of the road closure (which is poor quality) seems to indicate the stretch of road from the junction with Saddler Nook Lane and the County boundary.

Map showing road closure

However, the entry on the Lancashire Roadworks Bulletin seems to suggest that the closure goes back as far as Biggins Lane.

Annual Gardening Competition

A message from Colin Hall:

The judging this year will take place much earlier than normal (late June) to take advantage of early displays. However, the prize giving will still take place at the Harvest Supper.
