Here is a photo of the spruced up Village Hall.

Spruced up Village Hall

Original post: A message from Simon and Caroline from The School House:

Hi everyone

We are planning to give the Village Hall a good clean up in time for the Harvest Supper next month so are looking for helpers on Saturday 29 September meet at 9.30.

I have bags for the weeds and rubbish but if you could bring a trowel or other such like tool that would be a great help. Also for those like me with dodgy knees something to kneel on.

As is customary at such Village activities bacon butties and hot drinks will be provided.

If you could reply to us at sj.cmraistrick@gmail.com.

So we have an idea of numbers.

Many thanks

Sri Lanka Slideshow & Talk

Friday 11th May at 7:30 pm at Whittington Village Hall£3.00, with all proceeds going to Whittington Village Hall

During a six week visit to Sri Lanka earlier this year I tried to trace my father’s time there during World War II through a series of old black and white photos and postcards.

Throughout that journey Virginia and I explored the country’s wildlife sanctuaries, cave temples, ancient monuments, tea plantations, colonial heritage, war graves and (of course) its beaches. We met survivors of the 2004 Tsunami and the 25 year civil war that raged in that country.

I hope this talk will give a good insight in to Sri Lanka’s cultural history, wildlife and visitor attractions. Failing that there should be some artistic merit in some of the photography.

It would be great if you could make it to this fundraiser for the village hall. If you are likely to come could you let me know (it will help to decide how many seats to put out) by email to robinpritchard57@gmail.com

Annual Parish Meeting

Further Update: the correct name for the Assembly is Meeting so this has now been updated to the Annual Parish Meeting. Also, the date has been changed to Monday 30th April at 7:00 pm.

Update: a further plea from the Parish Council for agenda items for the Parish Meeting. Last year there were no items on the agenda – it would be a shame if this were the case again.

Original post: The Annual Parish Assembly will take place on Monday 21st May 2018 at 6:45 pm. This is an open public meeting and will be followed by the Annual General Meeting at 7:30pm and then a Parish Council Meeting.

If any parishioners have agenda items for the Parish Meeting, please can they let Gillian Hodgson (Clerk to the Parish Council – email gillianhodgson6@gmail.com).

Pancake Party

The annual Pancake Party will be in the Village Hall on Tuesday 13th February, starting at 6pm till around 7:30pm. This is a free event and normally proves to be very popular.

Mmm… lovely!
